The new ironworks

Nya Bruket replaced an area with two-storey buildings from the early 1900s. Erskine kept the town plan and thus both the trees and the pipes underground. The new buildings have many of Erskine's hallmarks: sculptural shapes, bold colours and artistic freedom in the combinations of materials and lines of the façades. There, Erskine came to influence Swedish architecture in general. In the middle of the area, a service building was placed with leisure activities for old and young. The black house is a vertical accent against the low buildings and serves as a landmark.
