An exhibition about a weaving school in Cairo gave the artist Birger Forsberg the idea to create something similar in his own hometown of Hedesunda at the lower course of the Dalälven river. Ralph Erskine, who had made many notable buildings in Gästrikland, was contacted and together with Forsberg a small village was created, like a group of tents in a circle, but where the houses together can be read as one big tent. Here, the Hedesunda Weavers Foundation works to promote children's creativity. The imaginative architecture plays an important role in this work. The wooden houses are technically simple, but complex in their form.
